Fishing Report June 20th

Another great day on the water in the waters around vancouver. It was slow down South today off T10 and the South arm of the Fraser river mainly because the Killer Whales went through yesterday so it’ll take a day or so for the fish to turn back on down there or we will have to wait for the next batch to come in. The West van shoreline in English Bay was good for some boats this morning mainly West of the Capilano between 14th street and 29th street. We had trouble getting them in this morning only landed 1 nice hatchery Coho, released 2 undersize Springs and lost 6 Coho. Crabbing was good again we kept 8 nice big dungeness. The afternoon trip was also nice calm and warm we fished the same place on the West Van shoreline we limited out with 6 nice hatchery Coho, lost a bunch and got a bunch of nice Dungeness crab on the way in. The Coho seemed to be abit smaller today than earlier in the week so there’re fresh fish moving in it seems with every flood tide.

Fishing report June 6 -9th

A few Springs have been getting caught in the Gulf islands with them moved inshore to Thrasher Rock and the Grande with a 30lb Halibut getting caught at Thrasher rock trolling the bottom. On this side of the Straight of Georgia, Howe sound there’s still a few Springs getting caught at Hole in the Wall and Grace islands. The West Van shoreline in English Bay has started to produce a few Spring salmon and some Coho also. The tides get better for fishing the West van shoreline next week with a good flood in the morning which is the tide we want to fish as the fish get pushed to the Capilano river you don’t want to fish this area when the tide is ebbing. Crabbing is still been very good with lots of big dungeness crab around 7 inches across the back. It usually is slow the first 2 or 3 weeks of June then the West van area usually heats up as long as it does not rain much and Salmon rock and Howe sound pick up for Springs heading to the Squamish river.

Vancouver fishing report June 1-4th

The Salmon fishing has calmed down abit the last few days from the unreal fishing we had a couple weeks ago. The Gulf islands have slowed down abit some nice Springs still getting caught off Thrasher, Five fingers, and the Grande. This side of the Strait of Georgia the Spring salmon fishing has slowed down abit also but some real nice fish getting caught. Hole in the Wall and Grace islands have produced some nice Spring salmon. The Bell buoy off point grey has produced some nice Springs and a few Coho have started to show up. The West van shoreline has produced some nice Springs off the Marker at the Capilano river. The Coho from the Bell buoy will move to the west van shoreline and wait for rain to go up the Capilano River. Crabbing is still great lots of Dungeness alot being over 7 inches.

Fishing Report May 17/09

The May long weekend has been awsome salmon fishing. This side of the straight has slowed down abit but the other side near the Gulf islands had been awsome. Salmon fishing of Thrasher Rock 2 to 4 miles has been awsome mostly on spoons from 80 to 130ft with some being caught shallower and deaper. Some of the Spring salmon have been close to 30lbs but most are in the 14 to 18lbs range. This fishery is great for day trips and it should only get better. Crabbing is still great things should only get better from here on. Nothing like fishing in the morning then lunch on Gabriolla island and then a nice cruise back to Vancouver.

Fishing report May14/09

The last few days has been showing Spring salmon moving into Howe Sound to the Hole in the Wall area and a few on the West side of Bowen island. Yesterday there was also a nice Spring caught near the Bell Buoy which is near point grey and a 20lb spring was caught at hole in the wall and a few undersize Jacks which are mature Spring salmon but are just undersize but wiegh 6 or 7 pounds. Alot more people will be out for the long weekend so there will be good reports to be had. The other side of the strait at Thrasher Rock has started to heat up with some anglers getting limits with teenage fish. and the odd 20lb Spring salmon.

Fishing report May 12/09

Not on the water today weather was not very nice a big north west blew up. A friend of mine was out there lost one before he got blown of the water. In the afternoon the wind eased and by late afternoon was flat calm. The North west quite often blows in fresh Spring salmon so tomorrow is a new day. Crabbing is still great in Howe sound and stays good throughout the summer we don’t get hit by the commercial fishery like alot of places they do not fish howe sound.

Fishing report May 09/09

Another Nice sunny day on the water today started of the South end of Bowen island but moved to the West side of Bowen island after the wind picked up. The ones who stayed out on the South end of Bowen did okay for Spring salmon 2 to 3 miles of shore. I fished the 3rd marker and had 2 just undersize Spring salmon about 6lbs each then the wind blew in. We finished our trip checking the crab traps of the West van shorline and kept 11 nice Dungeness crab. Another good day on the waters around Vancouver fishing and taking in Howe sound.
